S’mores pull-apart loaf

Hello hello lovelies! Making bread is one of the best stress relievers in the world. At least that’s how it works for me. That’s why I decided to make this S’mores pull-apart loaf

Get frustrated

I mean you get to knead all your frustration into the dough and at the end of it, you’re left with something incredibly amazing. A ball of soft, fluffy dough that’s ready to be transformed into something mouthwatering.

Choose your toppings

After your dough’s ready, you get to put all your favourite toppings on it as if you’re making a pizza. Actually, you could probably bake this is as and have a dessert pizza instead!

Mmmm….dessert s’mores pizza…now why didn’t I think of this sooner?

dough with marshmallows and chocolate

Stack it up

Anyways, the funnest and messiest part about this whole process comes after that…you have to get your hands in there and stack stack stack the strips up high…

Trust me, this ends up being quite the process when you end up licking the chocolate spread off your fingers in between each layer 😉

And the messiness doesn’t stop there because then you need to pop each square into your loaf pan so that it can become even more delicious than it already looks!

S’mores pull-apart loaf recipe

Ingredients (1 loaf)

  • 3 tablespoons coconut sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons active yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup chocolate spread
  • 1/3 cup crushed graham crackers
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows

Method

  1. Combine milk, yeast and sugar in a small bowl. Stir and let sit for 10 minutes until foamy
  2. When the yeast has bloomed, pour it in a large bowl. Add in the salt, egg and coconut oil. Whisk until combined.
  3. Stir in the flour a cup at a time until a dough forms. The dough should come away from the sides of the bowl.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 10-15 minutes until it is soft and springs back when poked in the middle. If you are using an electric mixer with a dough hook, this should take about 5 minutes.
  5. Transfer the dough into a greased bowl and cover it with plastic wrap or tea town. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it’s doubled in size.
  6. When the dough is ready, punch it down a few times to deflate it.
  7. Roll the dough out with a rolling pin into a rectangle that is 1 cm thick. Spread your chocolate spread on top. Sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs and mini marshmallows.
  8. Cut the rectangle into 2″ x 3″ squares. I cut the rectangle 6 times lengthwise and 4 times widthwise.
  9. Prop your loaf pan up horizontally and carefully stack your squares in it layer by layer. Making sure that the two end pieces are dough pieces and the chocolate spread is not pressed against the outside of the loaf pan.
  10. Let the loaf rise covered in a warm place for 15 minutes.
  11. Bake at 350F for 30 – 35 minutes until golden brown.

I agree on the therapeutic angle of making bread, but somehow I still rarely get round to it! This looks tasty – I am going to have to look in to pull apart breads a bit more as they are a bit of a not something I grew up with but I can see they have a lot of potential for nice flavors in there(and getting it on yourself as you put it together!). Thanks for sharing with Fiesta Friday.
