Apple pull apart bread + Apple monkey bread! (vegan)

As I mentioned in the title, this batch of pull apart bread was inspired by the oh so humble apple pie. If you didn’t know by now my favorite fruit are apples so that’s why I like baking with them so much. There’s just so many varieties and opportunities for creative possibilities! Well that and I love bread but don’t like pie all that much so this was the perfect way for me to have a taste of apple pie! Here comes Apple pull apart bread!

Apple pull apart bread

Ingredients:

1 batch of pull apart dough (my recipe can be found here)
1 medium apple diced into 1 cm cubes
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon coconut oil or butter

Let’s roll!

1. Make the bread dough according to the recipe found here. Prepare the apple filling while the dough is rising by combining the apples, cinnamon, brown sugar and coconut oil in a sauce pan on medium heat. Saute the apples until they can be pierced through with a fork.

2. Assemble your pull apart bread by rolling out your dough and cutting it into strips. Place your apple filling along each strip as you stack them up. Then cut the strips into 6 separate square stacks. (For more detailed instructions refer to my previous pull apart posts)

For monkey bread, instead of rolling the dough out simply take a piece of dough and place a teaspoon of the topping inside. Pinch the edges together to seal.

3. Place the dough stacks or dough balls into your loaf pan and let it rise covered for 1 hour.

Mother deer likes monkey bread better before she likes “plucking” the little dough balls off the giant loaf.

I on the other hand, like the look of the pull apart better because you get to see all the fillings spewing out from the inside of the loaf and I love tearing each layer of it piece by piece. I mean how gorgeous does this look!
