Yi Fang

I finally tried Yi Fang! Yi Fang tea is a bubble tea shop that started in Taiwan (I believe) and because I always saw it when I was living in Taiwan I wasn’t as excited about it as the other Vancouverites. The other thing about Yi Fang tea is they use fresh fruit, organic milk and/or quality tea in all their beverages so the prices tend to be higher than other places that don’t pay attention to those things.

With that being said, for Canada day weekend, Yi Fang had a special on their signature pearl black milk tea so I decided that it was about time that I give them a try.

The photo on the menu showed a gradient effect with the tea being on top fading into the milk but when I got the drink it was already all mixed together. I was surprised that the milk tea was so light because the tea looked really dark in the photo.

The milk tea was alright….I don’t think it was anything extra special about it or anything that made me want to come back for the drink. With that being said, I was quite happy with the amount of pearls that I got with my drink because there was enough to go around! I mean sometimes you just get a bit at the bottom and you end up with a bunch of milk tea at the end with nothing to have it with. The pearls here were also smaller in diameter so they felt less chewy because they was just less to chew. Overall, good first impression but I’m not sure I’d get this again since the original price point is $6.25 a cup!
