Wild Rose herbal D-tox review

Hello health nuts! As you know, I’ve recently got some tests done and have now had to revamp my diet in order to heal my gut. If you missed my post, now worries, you can catch up on it here. I decided to give Wild Rose herbal D-tox a go to see if it would help things out.

Why do a detox?

Now I’ve never been an advocate of “detoxes” because your body is literally a detoxification system! It literally has organs designed to get rid of the toxins and wastes in your body. Unfortunately for me, my body wasn’t doing this properly on it’s own. So I figured that it wouldn’t hurt to try a detox. I mean at this point, I was willing to try pretty much anything that would help get my health back on track! Then, there it was, the Wild Rose Herbal D-tox

There are so many juice cleanses out there but I knew that those weren’t for me. I love food too much and juice cleanses usually deplete your calories so much that your body has no choice but to lose weight to sustain itself. Being that I work a pretty active job running so I knew that it wouldn’t be the way to go. Plus, I am not a fan of anything that involves an extremely low caloric intake given my past issues with it.

The thing that I like about the Wild Rose Herbal D-tox is…

  1. It’s only done for 12 days
  2. You get to eat!
  3. It’s all natural herbs

So how do you do the Wild Rose Herbal D-tox?

The kit comes with 3 bottles of pills and a concentrate. You basically take 2 of each pill twice a day and 40 drops of the concentrate with it. The pills are pretty big in my opinion so you might need to break them in half. They pills have different colour speckles on them from the herbs in them and they even smell like herbs.

The concentrate was the more difficult one to take for me. First of all, those who know me know that I hate tedious tasks and counting out 40 drops twice a day was not fun for me. Eventually I figured out that 40 drops was about 2mL so I just measured it out that way instead. I DO NOT recommend you just drinking this as is because it was terrible. It literally smelled and tasted like alcohol! Blech! I then learned 10 days into it that it’s much more tolerable to consume in a glass of water so be sure to do that instead. I warned you!

What to eat

The kit also comes with a little booklet to help you with a meal plan. It doesn’t give you a meal plan per say but it does tell you what you can and can’t eat on the detox.

I found it easier to remember what I couldn’t eat because these were the main things to avoid. I already have to avoid most of these things because of my gut healing protocol so it was easier for me to stay to this list. If you are not already avoiding things in your diet, I’d focus on the yellow list and try your best to avoid the things on the red one. It’s worse to stress over every little thing than to try your best with it.

What I ate

Breakfast

This was always a smoothie bowl with coconut milk, chia pudding or overnight oats! I always top it off with fruit because life is just better that way. It also helps me get my sweet cravings out of the way to start the day off with something that feels like a dessert.

If I crave something savory I’ll have potatoes with sauteed veggies.

omelette and hashbrowns

Lunch

This was always a salad with a protein or soup. Probably not the most interesting sounding lunch but you need to get creative with it! I always mixed up my greens, used different carbs and chose different proteins (tempeh, smoked tofu, fish).

strawberry green salad
quinoa corn salad

Snacks: Now it’s for the afternoon pick me up. I usually go with a matcha latte, dates, nuts or bar of sorts (I’ve been loving Rx bars and Welo probiotic bars)

And then if I decide to go for a workout I usually have a berry smoothie.

If I don’t end up having a smoothie pre-workout, I’ll have one post-workout. I’ve been loving the Garden of Live Raw Chocolate protein powder lately

Dinner: This consisted of either zoodles with tahini on top or veggie fried rice.

Before bed I’ll have a cup of “golden milk” made with coconut milk, tumeric, cinnamon, collagen peptides and maple syrup if I’m feeling sweet.

If I’m feeling like having a sweet treat, I’ll have my coconut mousse which is made by blending coconut cream, cacao powder and collagen peptides together. It’s sooo goooddd!

So what “results” did I get? Nothing changed weight wise for me but I didn’t go into it thinking that it would change because that’s not why I did this in the first place. I felt like I was able to get creative with my meals again and even though I had to avoid certain foods it wasn’t so difficult that it’s impossible to do. The main two things you need to avoid are dairy and gluten which are two things that are common causes for inflammation in your body even if you aren’t lactose or gluten intolerant.

I hope that this gave you a feel meal ideas whether you decide to do this detox or not. Wild rose also has a liver detox kit and I’m debating if I want to try that one sometime since my liver is also something that’s been overworked. I’ll probably wait a while before doing another one though.

What about you? Have you done a detox? What do you think of them? Let me know below!

  1. LOVE this honest review. Teatoxes and these “detox” meal plans are VERY easy to obsess over. I never assume that these detox plans will automate losing weight or experiencing major changes in my body. However, I do like how this enabled you to get creative in the kitchen and get an extra boost of health! Your golden milk and sweet potato salads and quinoa bowls look heavenly!
