Hitoe sushi

Hitoe sushi was a restaurant that Grayson introduced to me and it has been a favorite of ours ever since. Hitoe sushi Japanese owned so if you are more interested in fusion style rolls and eats, this probably isn’t the place for you but the two of us love authentic Japanese food so we keep coming back.

Hitoe sushi

I know I just mentioned about how Hitoe serves more “traditional” Japanese style food but they do have a few not too outrageous Westernized rolls thrown in there. We decided to get their chicken teriyaki roll and vegetable roll. Well, it was more like I wanted the vegetable roll and he wanted the teriyaki roll.

Vegetable rolls

As always, I love my vegetable rolls because it lets me get in my veggies with a side of deliciously seasoned sushi rice. I’m really picky about my sushi rice and this place does it right! Grayson was quite pleased with his chicken teriyaki roll because the sauce was mild and you could actually taste the chicken!

Saba nigiri

He also really wanted a saba nigiri so we got that too.

We couldn’t go to a sushi restaurant without trying their nigiri especially if it’s a place that makes their own tamago so we got the sushi combo A which came with 5 nigiri and 2 maki rolls.

Nigiri

The nigiris had very fresh seafood on it and Grayson said that the tamago was the best he’s ever had. Which makes sense because it’s made in house! If you’ve never tried homemade tamago (sweet egg), you have to try it. This usually means that the egg is beige colour instead of yellow.

Summary

Hitoe sushi is a wonderful Japanese owned hole in the wall restaurant. Their seafood is all fresh and they don’t skimp out on the toppings of their nigiri. They really know how to highlight their ingredients and only provide the best.
