Apples “sorbet” (clean eats/vegan)

I like my apples as is and in my juices  to sweeten things up. So why do I adore this little fruit so much? Not only is it crunchy, crispy, refreshing, variable and seasonal all year around, but they’re also super nutritious! Apples are packed with vitamin A, vitamin C, phosphorus, iron, calcium, potassium and flavonoids.

They’re also fibrous fruits which means they can help control blood sugar and help detox the body. It’s also been shown that eating apples can help reduce respiratory disease, Alzheimer’s, and heart disease. With all those health benefits, it’s really no wonder how an apple a day could keep the doctor away.

IF I had to prepare them in a different way, I’d use them to make sorbet. I call it a sorbet because you basically grate/blend an apple up and then freeze it so you can eat it as a frozen treat! If it’s not cold enough for you to eat a cold treat, you can always bake it for a warm eat.

Simple. Clean. Ingredients.

1 apple
cinnamon, nutmeg to taste

Cold treat

Grate your apple with a cheese grater or blend it up in a blender for a smoother texture. Sprinkle with spices. Pop in freezer for 1 hour or until firm.

Warm eats

Core your apple and then cut it into 1 cm thick slices. Toss your apples in the spices and then layer them in a ramekin. Pour 1 1/2 tablespoons of water on top of the apples. Bake at 350F for 30 – 45 minutes until soft.
