Chia fruit leather

Hello Fiesta Friday lovelies, I recently got back from a road trip to Portland, OR and goodness over that trip I had a whole lot of processed food in my diet. Now that I’m back I decided that I would get right on back on track to my healthy lifestyle by making some healthy snacks. I’ve made these Chia fruit leather before and they turned out pretty well so I decided to make them once again because they’re so easy to make! Plus, I’m off on yet another road trip this weekend and this time I want to be more prepared to keep my tummy happy and body fuelled!

Chia fruit leather

Simple. Clean. Ingredients

15 super ripe strawberries
3 tablespoons chia seeds
honey to taste (optional)

Using a blender or food processor, blend the strawberries and into a puree. Stir in the chia seeds and honey.

Then, blend the mixture again. Let the strawberry mixture sit for an hour in the fridge until it becomes viscous and paste-like in consistency.

Bake the mixture on a baking sheet at 425F for 30 – 45 minutes so that the mixture dehydrates. It’ll be ready when the mixture is dry to the touch. If not, you might need to bake it longer.

How to make fruit leather

Then, you’re all done making your Chia fruit leather! I hope you all enjoy this little snack I whipped up together because it’s a healthier alternative to the fruit leathers you find at the store because there’s no excess sugar added!

You can also use other fruit to make other flavors of fruit leather as well but I recommend using a fruit with less water content or it’ll take much too long to dehydrate in the oven and it might not hold together.

Next time I’m going to try making these with mango when they start being on sale again or maybe one with mango with strawberry swirled into it! Ooo I’m getting just thinking about the possibilities!
