Xing Fu Tang Burnaby

Hello friends! It’s been a while since I’ve gone out to eat a meal let alone go out for a drink. A bubble tea drink of course. Now that things are opening back up again, Grayson and I went to get brown sugar pearl drinks from Xing Fu Tang Burnaby.

It wasn’t busy when we got there so we made our orders and waited outside.

Brown Sugar pearl milk

I usually order milk teas when I go to bubble tea shops but I already tried it on my previous visit so I wanted to try something new. I got the Brown Sugar pearl milk because it’s Xing Fu Tang’s signature drink. It had milk and their signature stir-fried pearls.

I got the drink without any additional sugar because I knew it would already be sweet because of the brown sugar pearls. After I took my first sip, I knew I made the right call because it was too sweet for my liking. While it was on the sweeter side, it wasn’t undrinkable. If I had to describe it it tasted like drinking liquid caramel.

The pearls from Xing Fu Tang were super soft and chewy. I find that when shops make handmade pearls you can tell because they have a nicer texture to them and don’t have a hard core on the inside. I’ve made boba before but they were not as good as these.

Fresh taro milk

The drink was smooth a taro paste topped with milk. Grayson would have enjoyed it better if the taro was a bit chunkier so that he could really taste the taro in it. Once the taro mixed in with the milk, the taro flavour got lost. A bit of a miss on this one unfortunately but we will be back to try some of their other unique drink offerings soon!
