Snowy village – Richmond

Lil’ bun and I decided to head over to Snowy village Richmond for some Korean shaved ice (bingsoo) a little while ago because we haven’t had any since our trip to Korea over the summer!

Lil bun has been to other Korean shaved ice shops for bingsoo before but this was her first time going for it at Snowy village Richmond. I’ve been to Snowy village once before but I’ve only tried the Taiyaki. You can read more about here.

Matcha bingsoo

Their bingsoo comes in a variety of flavors and sizes. The regular sizes are $10-11 and large sizes are $12-15. They also have seasonal flavors and yogurt ice for $15+. We decided to go with a regular matcha bingsoo. It came with matcha cake pieces, rice cakes, almond slices, matcha powder, red bean paste, and condensed milk.

Things started going wrong when we started scooping the bingsoo into our individual bowls because it initiated a landslide of toppings from the middle. The cake pieces and rice cakes were falling off left right and center! The shaved ice was a flaky version of ice cream that resembled powdered snow. Even though everything was dusted with matcha powder, it wasn’t bitter. At first it was creamy and enjoyable but as we got towards the end, it became too sweet from the condensed milk drizzled between the layers. Not sure if we would get this again but it was pretty tasty!
