Peaches Cafe

So the other evening Grayson and I went to Peaches cafe and you’re probably wondering why that is interesting so let’s back track. A few months ago, Grayson and I went to amigo restaurant because we couldn’t find Peaches Cafe in the dark of night. We were actually walking along the same path but for some reason we completely missed and this time we were in the area but weren’t looking for it and there it was! So naturally we had to go in and try the place out!

When we first walked into the cafe, it was clear to us that it used to be a cattle cafe. I guess it is cheaper to take over a pre-existing restaurant than to renovate it and make it your own.

What I did like from them and found hilarious were the squiggly spoons with faces on them. I didn’t expect them to have spoons like this let alone have faces on them.

I don’t know why it is that whenever I go to a Hong Kong cafe, it takes me forever to choose what I want to eat. I’m not sure if it’s the endless options or the limited amount of items I’m interested in but it takes me forever. So, what ends up happening is Grayson and I share two dishes, both of which he knows I’d be okay with having.

Seafood penne

We ordered the seafood penne with italy sauce thinking “italy sauce” meant tomato sauce because what else would it mean right? Apparently it meant cream sauce. This cream sauce was pretty basic, you could taste the richness of the cream, the salt and pepper and the onion. Could it have been better? Yes, but I didn’t expect better at a hong kong cafe restaurant. The seafood in it was minimal with bits of frozen seafood mix (shrimp, calamari, mini scallops) and with so much pasta going on, we easily forgot that there was supposed to be seafood in there to begin with. Needless to say, it wasn’t an impressive $13 pasta dish.

Chicken cutlet curry

The other dish we got was the chicken cutlet curry because it was on special for $10. The chicken thigh was pan-seared instead of being fried even though it was described as a “cutlet” and those are usually fried at these restaurants but we didn’t mind. The curry sauce was slightly sweet with mild curry flavor and there were a few mushrooms in there as well. We were happy that there was just enough curry sauce to go around because the worse thing is having rice left over with no curry sauce to go with!
