Onezo is a bubble tea shop located along Kingsway across from Metrotown mall. It’s not a very large cafe so it’s not one you are able to sit and study at so make sure to keep that in mind before you visit. The service at Onezo is streamlined. You line up through the front door, walk up to the counter and wait on the side. It’s tricky when it gets busy because the cafe crowds very quickly.
Onezo is a unique bubble tea cafe because they make all their tapioca pearls in house! You can even watch your pearls get made because the set up is right by the front door. On the day we were there, we watched them make hundreds of pink tapioca pearls.
Since they were making pink tapioca pearls, I had to get a drink with pink pearls in it. The pearls are pink because they are made with pink cactus or dragon fruit juice to add the colour. The result is the most pretty pearl colour ever!
One love pink drink
The One love pink drink was one of their feature drinks outside the cafe and was $6 a cup! I was interested in what the drink would taste like so I had to try it out. On first sip, I’m pretty sure it’s an earl grey tea based milk tea with pink tapioca pearl and grapefruit pulp. It was definitely a strange drink. I appreciate the attempt to balance out the sweetness of the drink by adding in grapefruit but it only made the drink bitter. The earl grey milk tea was also fragrant with floral notes which I enjoyed even though I’m not a fan of earl grey tea. Overall, I wouldn’t mind getting it again but I don’t understand why grapefruit needed to be added.
Pineapple green tea
Not sure why we end up trying pineapple green tea everywhere we go but we do. Grayson got his with onezo tapioca which came with an assortment of their coloured pearls! I would love to say that you could decipher the differences between all the flavours but it’s difficult to do so. The pineapple green tea was ordered “unsweetened” and only had a fraction of the pineapple syrup they usually add in. The pineapple green tea ended up being the perfect sweetness level with enough pineapple flavour to shine through the tea. Definitely a must try if you want a customizable drink option at onezo.
