Nutella donuts

I’ve made my share of Nutella filled treats so I had a hard time coming up with what to make this time around so I asked lil’ bun. We ended up making these amazingly scrumptious irresistible Nutella donuts! Lil’ bun came back not once, or twice, but FIVE times for after they came out of the oven.

If you don’t have donut molds/tins like we do, no worries because you can use mini muffin tins and make donut holes! And if you don’t have mini muffin tins, you can always use those little paper cups they have at fast food restaurants for carrying your ketchup in instead. Yes, I admit…I have taken them from from a fastfood restaurant before but I was desperate and who could resist making these little guys?

I mean they’re just too cute! Plus making them in mini donut hole size totally helps them stay portion sized so you don’t feel overly guilty if you end up having a bunch of them at once. Which I promise, you will end up doing because they are that addicting! Nutella AND donuts? Need I say more?

Nutella mini muffins

Ingredients (makes 12)

  • 1/3 cup Nutella
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour (you can use whole wheat but it might leave you a with a denser donut)
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

The how to

  1. Mix your Nutella and coconut oil together in a large bowl until they are combined.
  2. Add in your vanilla, milk, brown sugar and egg. Stir all your ingredients together until they are incorporated.
  3. Fold in your flour, baking soda and salt until a smooth batter forms. You’ll want to fold it in because it’ll prevent the gluten from over developing which could leave you with dense donuts.
  4. Bake at 350F for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Top with a generous drizzle of melted chocolate chips, or melted Nutella if you like.

How cool! I made muffins with a spoonful of Nutella in the middle yesterday 🙂 your doughnuts (that’s how I spell it!) and holes look great. Thank you for sharing with us at Fiesta Friday 🙂

  2. I recently bought a donut (or doughnut, I’m never sure how to spell it either) pan also and I really enjoy using it, I’m definitely going to be trying these!

    1. I’ve always wanted a donut pan! But until i do i have to make do with my 3 silicone ones which means usually I end up making donut holes since I only have three to use 🙁

Ooh these look so good. Nutella is always a winner with me, even more so in a donut. I know that doughnut is the British way of spelling it, and as a brit it’s probably some kind of blasphemy that I spell it donut but it just looks better to me!

  4. These look freaking delicious & so easy to make too! I am so going to make them tomorrow morning,..ooh yes! Yum yum yummy!

    1. Thanks Sophie!

These look delicious and so easy to make too! Will have to try soon. I have tried using Nutella in cupcakes and recently in a chocolate cake. I love the flavor it gives! 🙂

    1. It’s so amazingly versatile! I’ve tried to use it in place of peanut butter (peanut allergies at my house) in various bakes and it works out so well!
