Mr. Chu tea and coffee

Grayson and I decided to make an adventure out of our weekend by going down to White Rock Pier. We usually visit Leieve Cafe for bubble tea but this time we decided to try somewhere new.

Mr. Chu Tea and Coffee is located a 15 minute walk away from White Rock Pier. We ended up deciding to walk to it since it seemed so short of a distance until we realized we had to hike up a steep hill!

The menu at Mr. Chu Tea and Coffee isn’t a very large cafe but they have the basic milk teas, fruit teas, slushes, and special mix drinks.

They also offer 6 different toppings including pearls, pudding, herbal jelly, coconut jelly and cream frothy.

Roasted oolong milk tea

It came with pearls so I didn’t have to pay extra for them. I was not a fan though. There was way too much milk powder in there that it almost made me feel sick from how strange it tasted because it was almost soapy! It was also missing at least 1″ of product! I mean sure if it’s not filled up to the top so it doesn’t spill when they put it through the seal applying machine fine but that was quite a bit of milk tea missing! Needless to say I was not impressed.

Fresh taro milk with coconut jelly

There were small chunks of taro in it and the coconut jelly had a strange almost floral flavour to it. It could have had more taro flavour for sure. At a $6 price point, we just expected more. Overall, we wren’t very impressed with Mr. Chu tea and coffee so we probably won’t be back.
