We’re always looking for new bakeries to try out because there are only so many Asian bakeries out there and we were tired of having the ones from St. Germain, Pinehouse, and Maxims. So we decided to give Marui bakery a try since we’ve passed by it a few times when we were in the area but had never thought to go in to take a look around.
Fresh mango sponge cake
They offered a variety of mousse and cream cheese based cakes at the bakery. However, these weren’t made fresh the day of because these types of cakes take time to set.
As tempting as those offerings were, we wanted the freshest cake we could get. So we we chose the 6″ fresh mango sponge cake ($19).
We thought that it looked a little plain on top so we decided to put a minion plaque on it before adding on the candles for the birthday celebration. 🙂
The inside was chock-full of super sweet mango chunks and the cake was super moist and fluffy.
All in all, we were satisfied with the cake we received. It wasn’t too pricy in comparison to other bakeries either. We wouldn’t mind trying another cake from here sometime. I hear that the breads from Marui bakery are pretty yummy too so perhaps we’ll have to give those a go as well!
