Kamome Japanese bistro is located by Joyce station and Collingwood community centre. They offer traditional Japanese rice, noodle and onigiri dishes at an affordable price point. All their dishes have a home-style feel to them and they never disappoint. They even have daily specials if you’re looking for even better deals!
Shrimp onigiri
We’ve never had an onigiri with shrimp in it before so we decided to try it out. The shrimp was mixed with lightly seasoned spicy mayo to provide richness. I liked how they put a good portion of shrimp on the onigiri to ensure that you had a bit in every bite. I’d definitely come back to try some of their other onigiri options in the future!
Tuna udon
I was feeling like trying something new so I decided to order the tuna udon. Initially I thought it would come with fresh tuna but it turns out it was canned flaked tuna. I guess I didn’t mind because I’m okay with canned tuna but I do think they should have specified better on their menu. In addition to the tuna the udon was topped with daikon radish, seaweed and a special sauce. When all the toppings were mixed together, the noodles were balanced and had a homey warmth to them.
Salmon teriyaki
Grayson ordered the salmon teriyaki. He said that the salmon was cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of sauce on top. He also said that the bowl was rice heavy so it’s good if you’re looking for a filling meal.
