Kamamarui royal oak

I feel like I’m the last person to realize that Kamamarui ramen got a menu revamp! This new change happened a couple of months ago and now Kamamarui offers sous vide chashu! They also added miso tantan ramen, miso egoma ramen, and maze udon!

Maze udon is a fun addition to the menu. The only place I’ve ever seen it before is at Kokoro Maze soba downtown. If you’ve never had it before you’re missing out. It’s basically dry udon noodles you mix together before you eat it so that all the flavour is packed together.

Chashu miso ramen

Grayson got the miso ramen with their regular chashu. He’s not a fan of the chashu here because he says it tends to be on the dry side but it ended up being better than expected. He said that soaking it in the broth helped it say tender and juicy which he liked a lot. The noodles here are what make it for him. They are on the thinner side and this means you have an evenly distributed bite to broth ratio every time.

Miso tan tan

I went with the miso tantan which is different from their regular tantan. The difference in my opinion isn’t big though because the soup base for this is miso and for the regular tantan it’s a sesame paste base. I usually get the regular tantan and the broth ends up being richer from the sesame whereas the miso one was saltier. I also liked that they got special spoons with holes in it for their ramen bowls with ground meat because it makes it so much easier to eat!
