Kamamarui ramen takeout

Black garlic ramen

Back to one of my FAVOURITE ramen spots of all time. This time instead of dining in, we grabbed Kamamarui ramen takeout! We were surprised as to how quickly they were able to get everything ready for us. The restaurant was packed when we arrived but we only had to wait 10 minutes for our food.

Taco Gyoza

We thought it was nice of them to add in these fried taco gyozas to sample. I think it’s one of their new products that they are testing so they’re giving them away for free. If we didn’t know they were “taco” flavour we wouldn’t know but they were crispy, crunchy and delicious!

Chashu don

They have one of the best chashu dons I’ve ever had. The pieces of chashu are topped with a soy-based sauce, Japanese mayo and green onion. There was enough meat and rice in the don for us to make sure each bite was packed full of flavour.

Bomb

The bomb is their version of an onigiri rice ball. It’s seasoned with furikake Japanese seasoning and a sauce similar to the one used in the chashu don. This doesn’t give you an explosive flavour as you would expect from the name of the dish but it’s pretty tasty to try out as an appetizer.

Black Garlic Ramen

The Black Garlic Ramen is one of their more unique soup bases. The chashu it came with was tender and flavourful from sitting in the broth. The noodles were chewy and the wood ear mushrooms added a unique texture to the bowl of noodles. Our favourite part was the ramen egg because it was perfectly marinaded! I wouldn’t say that this soup had a strong black garlic flavour but it did have hints of it throughout. I would say this is a good introduction to the umami flavours of black garlic if you want to try it out!

Miso Chashu Ramen

Their Miso Chashu Ramen comes with not one, not two but FOUR large pieces of chashu! The chashu pieces were seasoned differently than the ones in the black garlic ramen but they were just as delicious. The ramen noodles were thick and chewy which tied everything together perfectly. This was definitely worth it for $14.50, unlike some of the other ramen spots we’ve been to!

Kamamarui ramen takeout service is one of the speediest that I’ve seen when it comes to Japanese ramen spots. I’ll definitely be back for dine-in or takeout!
