How to bake spaghetti squash

Oh my gosh! I finally got my hands on a spaghetti squash!

And I’m seriously OBSESSED.

I’ve heard about this wonderful, magical squash since forever but haven’t been able to find it anywhere until now…and here’s how I prepped it!

Instructions

1. Cut the spaghetti squash in half and remove the seeds

This took me a good five minutes! Who knew squash skin was so tough to get through? Make sure you are CAREFUL when you do this because the squash will roll around! I suggest you cut a bit of the skin off one of the rounded sides. This acts as a flat surface so it doesn’t roll around!

2. Fill a baking or casserole pan with 1″ of water and place your squash inside. Bake at 350F for 30 – 25 minutes until tender.

3. Use a fork and scrape the sides of the squash to reveal…the spaghetti strands!

4. Place all your squash strands in a large bowl and eat as is or prepare it as if they are real noodles!

I like to add it into a pasta or rice dish to add more vegetables into it. I don’t always eat spaghetti squash on its own because I don’t find it very filling on it’s own. It’s great to use in a stir-fry as well because it adds a really nice orange colour and nutritients! Love pasta? Try my homemade pasta sauce recipe!

  2. Mmmmmmmm, my Mom used to make spaghetti squash with chili served over the top 🙂 I don’t know if I could convince hubby to try it (he hates all things squash related – he’s weird lol)… but I’ll have to make it for myself sometime 🙂

  3. When you make spaghetti squash, do you have to use a specific kind of squash or you can use any kind/type?
This sounds really good, Cynthia- topped with healthy marinara sauce will be awesome. 😀
