Good Bowl revisit

Hello friends! We are back at one of my FAVOURITE spots in Vancouver! Good Bowl! We’ve actually been here quite a few times already but I have yet to do an updated post on the place. Good Bowl continues to introduce new healthy items on their menu. They now have combos including their energy balls and encourage customers to add a fresh pressed juice to their order.

One thing we noticed right way was that they raised their bowl prices by $1. This was surprising to us because it’s been less than a year since we’ve started going and things have already gone up. We understand that this is a direct result of minimum wages going up but it’s still a surprise every time we go to one of our favourite places to find the change in pricing.

Unlike most mongolian grill style restaurants, Good Bowl does not go by weight so you can choose as many veggies as you want. So why are there different sizes? The different sizes refer to the amount of protein and rice/noodles they put in each portion.

We usually get a heaped plate of vegetables but this time they didn’t pile things up as high which was disappointing to me as a veg lover. It’s okay though because there are so many veggies to choose from that there was still lots to eat.

Good bowl sauces

After your plate is piled with veggies and protein, you get to choose your sauce! This is my favourite part because it’s also the funnest. I love trying the different flavour combinations and there are just so many to choose from!

This time I got the Hunan, Spicy Korean and Lemongrass ginger. Despite how I chose two spicy sauces, I didn’t think it was too spicy at all. It was more of a mild spice in the background. Grayson got the teriyaki, coconut lime leaf and lemongrass ginger. He liked the creaminess the coconut added while the ginger added warmth!

You’re able to choose to have your rice mixed in or as a base under your grilled veggies. I always get mine mixed in because this way all the flavours of the sauces soak into the rice. Grayson used to get his rice on the bottom but after trying it mixed in, he can’t go back!

You can also choose if you want your veggies to be soft, regular, or crunchy. I always get them crunchy because I find that even after they take your food off the grill, it continues to cook a bit from the heat.

If you’re a health nut or just someone trying to get into healthy food, this is the place to be. It has all the health elements and the house-made sauces give it so much flavour that you’ll forget you’re eating a bowl of wild rice and veggies! I need to figure out how to make these sauces at home!
