Fruit water recipes! (clean eats)

Summer time is right around the corner and what better to have on a sunny day than fruit water? No, I don’t mean the store bought “flavored water” or “vitamin water.” I mean real fruit in water. I never used to like water because I found it to be bland, flavorless and well, boring. I had tea on a regular basis but never just plain water and a girl can only drink so much caffeine or tea in a day.

Fruit water

Anyways, I figured since I live a pretty healthy lifestyle I should probably start drinking more water on a regular basis in a form that wasn’t tea and that was when I discovered fruit water. I like drinking fruit water because it always makes me feel like I’m drinking something fancy and it lets me get in a few extra doses of vitamins and minerals without trying too hard.

Simple. Clean. Ingredients.

Pick a recipe below and add everything into a pitcher or mason jar. Let the fruit and herbs sit in the water for 2 – 3 hours or overnight to infuse then enjoy! Don’t keep your fruit in the water for over 24 hours though because keeping it in there so long will promote bacteria growth

fruit water with oranges and grapefruit

Sometimes I get asked what I do with all the leftover fruit or vegetables after using a few slices and well the answer to that is easy, I eat it of course! I mean fruit water is lovely but fruit on it’s own is even better! I like storing my fruit water in the fridge because I find it more refreshing that way but of course you can store it anywhere you do so please. Like me, lil’ bun was pretty weary about fruit water at first because she finds the idea of it strange and didn’t believe that water could be so easily flavored. But after a few rounds of me making it, she has been converted and actually enjoys making new fruity concoctions with me every so often. My favorite has got to be the detox water though. What’s your favorite and are there any fruity concoctions you have of your own for me to try?
