Famoso pizzeria – Surrey

famoso abruzzo pizza

Hello friends! I’ve been craving Neapolitan pizza so Grayson and I finally went back to Famoso pizzeria and bar! We haven’t been here in a few years so we didn’t even know they had a Famoso pizzeria and bar Surrey location! What I like about Famoso pizzeria and bar Surrey is that they had a $5 daily special menu! How could anyone resist?

Linguine rose with prawns

We started with a half size of the Linguine rose with prawns. It came with prawns, rose sauce, Grana Padano cheese and a slice of garlic bread. A “slice” of garlic bread was an understatement because it was such a huge piece! I felt like I had 1/4 of a baguette on the plate! The rose sauce was your typical garlicy tomato sauce with a dash of cream. I didn’t think it was anything spectacular but there was a generous amount of sauce so that every noodle was covered. The prawns were cooked well and didn’t come in the shell which made it easy to eat.

Abruzzo pizza

Grayson wanted to try their new Abruzzo pizza ($18) so that’s what we decided to go with. It had oven roasted sausage, spicy soppressata (pepperoni), mushrooms, and smoked mozzarella. The menu said that it was also supposed to have red onions and fennel seeds but we didn’t get a lot of it on the pizza because we hardly noticed that it had any at all.

The pizza had a thin crust but it wasn’t very crisp. Especially towards the middle where there were more sauces and toppings. The sausage and pepperoni added a light spice to the pizza with the tomato sauce and cheese mellowing everything out. The pizza was cut into 6 large slices that quickly filled us up.

Overall, we had a pretty good visit. We were happy with the food we got to have and we would come back another time!
