The go to place for our family dinners seems to be Congee noodle house these days. I’ve been here so often that I’m not really sure what I haven’t tried anymore! Congee noodle house offers Chinese cuisine family style.
Here are a few dishes we got this time around…
Broccoli with sauteed seafood
Dish was topped with a soy based roux. I was surprised as to how well the seafood was cooked because it’s really easy to overcook scallops and sea cucumbers.
Greens with faux abalone
The trumpet mushrooms are usually used to imitate the texture of abalone. It’s topped with oyster sauce.
Mango sweet and sour shrimp
It’s always a plus when your shrimp comes de-veined isn’t it? The bell peppers and shrimp were sauteed well. I thought that the mango slices added a nice tropical element but I’m not really sure it was necessary.
Sweet and sour short ribs
Brother deer definitely went to town on these. He said that they were nice and sticky just the way that he likes it. They didn’t have too many bones either which made them easy to eat.
Sauteed garlic lobster
The lobster here was pretty good. I thought it was a bit on the oily side and there wasn’t very much sauce on it though. With that being said, the lobster meat was tender and as usually, Brother deer had many pieces!
Steamed garlic scallops
These are my favorite because who doesn’t love giant scallops. They were tender, flavorful and just the way I like them.
