We went to the Richmond Chung Chun Rice Hot Dog location the other day spontaneously and are glad that we did. We heard about the trend of rice hot dogs for a while but weren’t sure if we would be interested or if they would be any good since we aren’t fans of corn dogs. Luckily, we decided to give it a go because they did not disappoint!
There are a variety of Chung Chun Rice Hot Dog “flavours” to choose from. Some even had squid ink on the outside or rice cake in the middle! We got there in the middle of the afternoon and there was already a line out the door. I would recommend ordering online if it’s busy because they are also on delivery apps.
Ramen dog
Who would have thought to put ramen pieces on the outside of a hot dog? This hot dog had the perfect amount of crunch on the outside from the ramen on the outside. This contrasted against the rice batter and hot dog on the inside. It was a textural masterpiece and I would recommend it to those who love textures. We chose to put the sweet and spicy sauce on the outside which added to the layers of flavour within. We loved how the grooves of the ramen caught some of the sauce to make sure each bite was packed with flavour.
Potato dog
This one is for all the potato lovers out there. It was as if you were having little fries with each bite of the hot dog. Grayson thought this one was on the “heavy” side because the potatoes were getting filling but would make a perfect snack if you were feeling peckish.
