Chocolate fig bars (clean eats/vegan)

I bought a jar of apple sauce recently and I’ve been experimenting with it in bakes ever since! Apple sauce can be used to add sweetness to bakes and can be used in place of oil as well. I’ve never used apple sauce in bakes before but I’ve heard that it gives things a “cake-ier” texture. These Chocolate fig bars have been my latest success with apple sauce!

I’ve also been trying to wean myself off  sugars so I’ve experimenting with the whole natural sugars thing as well. But of course, that doesn’t sit well with everyone else in the bunny household because they don’t eat the same way I do so I have to give and take every so often. But for this recipe, I sweetened it my way by using figs, apple sauce and honey! I think these Chocolate fig bars turned out pretty good because there was just a hint of sweetness but if you like things sweet you might want to add a little more honey or better yet, replace the egg with a mashed banana for sweetness!
