Brie baked in phyllo pastry

This was quite the fancy treat! The rind of the brie cheese is replaced by a thin phyllo pastry that is used to protect it while it bakes in the oven. Before the cheese is wrapped up, a layer of fig jam is put on top of the brie. Everything blended well together and was delicious on top of a piece of baguette bread.

Beef carpaccio

Thinly sliced raw piece topped with capers, olive oil, arugula and Parmesan cheese. This was prepared well and was definitely worth the try at $11 a plate!

Flatbreads

They offer 3 varieties of flatbread at Alpina. Both flatbreads were cut into eight pieces and each portion had a slice of meat on top so all the toppings were evening distributed among the pieces. I thought this was great because who likes having a piece with no toppings? The flatbread itself was thin crust and crunchy.

Shortrib sliders

These were one of the best dishes they offer here. They have a thick slice of shortrib in the middle and the roasted pepper on the inside adds smokiness. A definite must try!

Sushi tacos:

These mini tacos have a crisp shell and is filled mostly with seasoned sushi rice. It is then topped with crab mixed with mayo and tograshi seasoning to add some heat before being topped off with a slice of avocado. I don’t think this was worth $11 since it was mostly made up of rice so next time I’ll be passing on these.

Avocado BLT

An entire avocado cut in half and topped with a slaw salad. The salad consists of tomatoes, bacon, and lettuce as it’s name suggests and even has mini croutons to add a crunch factor. Everything is tied together with a buttermilk dressing.

Tuna poke

Are you a fan of tuna poke because I sure am! This tuna poke is made up of mostly tuna (yay) with your occasional pieces of tomatoes, avocado and green onion. It comes with a side of wonton chips which are way too large to eat with. I broke them all in half but even then the ratio between the wonton chips and tuna poke was not very balanced.

Sausage skillet

These mini bratwurst sausages are cooked in a pan and then bathed in a honey mustard sauce to add some sweetness to the otherwise smokey sausages.

alpina bar

Alpina bar is a nice place to go for happy hour with a few friends any day of the week. The food is great and the only downside I can think of is the fact that sometimes their food takes forever to come out when it’s busy. I’m not a happy camper when I end up having to wait 30 mins for my food!

  1. Never ate at a bar before, but I can imagine how amazing the dishes are! I always love vegetable flatbreads with amazing spices or even just a plate of roasted vegetables such as Brussels sprouts or sweet potato. Simplicity is key for me!
