Since we were going to watch Catching Fire, Grayson and I decided to go to x-site for dinner. I would love to say that the two of us ordered different things this time but we didn’t. Grayson loved the peppercorn steak too much and I wanted to actually try eating my veggie club this time, plus we didn’t want to miss the movie so we didn’t want to brew over the menu for too long.
Veggie club
It was a standard veggie sandwich with alfalfa sprouts, tomato, cucumber, avocado and lettuce on whole wheat bread. I thought it would be okay to order it. BUT I was wrong. What I received was a sandwich drentched in mayonnaise with a few vegetables peeking out in between. I probably could of and should of asked for another one, but after our encounter with the waiter, I really didn’t feel like asking him anything.
Grayson kindly offered to ask for me, but I insisted it was okay. I ended up just eating the spuds which were boiled red potatoes and the side salad that came with balsamic vinaigrette.
Peppercorn steak
Even though Grayson ordered the same peppercorn steak ($9.95)…his plate looked completely different from when we went to the x-site on East Hastings. This time his plate was oval and there was a lot more veggies and rice pilaf on it, not that he complained. He enjoyed his steak much better this time because it was cooked perfectly medium rare and was still quite red on the inside. Grayson liked the tanginess of the balsamic dressing on his salad, and enjoyed his spuds as well. His meal also came with nicely toasted crunchy pieces of garlic bread and rice pilaf.
We liked our service at X-site just fine this time because our server wasn’t over hounding us like our last experience. Except it was hard not to ignore how the group at the table beside ours was complaining about how their service was really slow ever since they became regulars there.
At first I thought that they were just exaggerating, but I realized how true their words were when they only got their food when Grayson and I finished our meal. This normally wouldn’t be a surprise, but this group actually sat down and ordered before us! Nevertheless we’ll probably be back if we need to catch a movie in that area any time soon!
