Stuffies pastries FINALLY opened their second location in Guilford Mall in Surrey! I’ve been to the Stuffies Pastries location in North Vancouver a few times because it’s close to my work but it was great to see that they expanded!
Usually I get their little stuffies pastries that are filled with custard cream but today I decided to try something different and have their Cro-tai instead. I’ve only had these at Snowy Village before so I wanted to see how they compared here. If you’ve never had a Cro-tai before, it’s basically a puff pastry filled with a sweet or savory filling before being pressed into a fish shape. The pastry is cooked on an iron so that the outside of cro-tai remains crispy while the inside remains flaky!
They have an assortment of sweet and savory flavors of Cro-tai here but I decided to go with a savory one because I’ve never tried a savory Cro-tai before.
Thai chicken cro-tai
I got the Thai chicken one because it sounded the most interesting. Unfortunately, it didn’t have any Thai flavors. It tasted like having chicken salad with the option of dipping it in sweet chili sauce. I would have liked it better if it had Thai spices and herbs in the chicken salad as well.
Cinnamon Cro-tai
Oracle decided to get the cinnamon custard cream. It was essentially vanilla custard with cinnamon mixed into it. Unfortunately her pastry was a bit under-cooked because it was gummy on the inside so that was quite disappointing. ):
