Starbucks Canada has launched their 2020 summer drinks. The running theme for their drinks this year is their new pineapple ginger syrup! They always come out with new syrups during the summer time but this was the most excited I’ve been in a while!
There are THREE new iced drinks this summer season.
- Guava Passionfruit Drink
- Pineapple Matcha Drink
- Golden Ginger Drink
Iced pineapple matcha drink
This green drink includes classic syrup, pineapple ginger syrup, matcha powder and coconut beverage. I’m a huge fan of anything with matcha so I was looking forward to trying this. Unfortunately, this drink missed the mark because it tasted like the flavours were competing with each other.
The coconut is the flavour that I tasted first. It wasn’t a creamy coconut flavour though, instead it tasted artificially flavoured. Next, I tasted the matcha but there was too much of it so it tasted grassy. After that, I was hoping for a hint of sweetness from the pineapple ginger syrup but that was missing as well. At the end of it, I hoped the guava passion fruit wouldn’t leave me feeling the same way. I don’t think I could have taken any more disappointment.
Iced Guava Passionfruit Drink
This is the newest pink drink from Starbucks! Not only is the colour of it photo ready but it smelled of summer! This guava passionfruit drink has pineapple ginger syrup, guava passionfruit juice, and coconut beverage.
The guava passionfruit was sweet and fruity. It’s a similar flavour to their guava black tea so it reminded me of the summer time. All the flavours blended well together to remind you of the tropics. If you are not a fan of sweets, I suggest that you ask them to add less syrup because the guava passionfruit juice is already sweet from the fruity flavours.
Starbucks Canada really hit it out of the park with this summer drink. I’d definitely get this again!
