Samurai sushi tofu bowl

Grayson and I went to Squamish for a trip and here’s what we ended up trying during our stay! As you can see, even when we’re away from home, we still love our Japanese food. Our first stop was Samurai sushi because we happened to stop by the complex it was in to pick up a few waters since we were going to go on a hike later.

Gyoza

These were filled with shredded cabbage and juicy pork. Grayson said that the dipping sauce was perfectly balanced in both sweet and vinegar-y flavors. They were pan fried well and remained perfectly crispy on the inside.

Chicken udon

Grayson also got a chicken udon ($7.50). He said that the noodles still had a bite to it and the chicken thigh was seasoned well.

Vegetarian bowl

I decided to get the vegetarian bowl ($7.50) and OH MY STARS, IT WAS AMAZING. I got it with brown rice (+$0.50) and it was topped with shredded beets, carrots, alfalfa sprouts, soy beans, green beans, quinoa, smoked tofu and sesame sauce.

It was my first time trying smoked tofu and at first I was a little confused about the texture since it was a lot firmer than I expected but it grew on me and reminded me of BBQ meat! The soybeans were seasoned with soy perfectly as well. I was only half way through this bowl and I already wanted another bowl of it!
