Personas – Grand Villa Casino

personas brunch food

Hello friends! Lately we have been taking advantage of all the promotions offered at Grand Villa Casino. I recently wrote about my experiences at Alpina bar and the Buffet. This time I’m going to be writing about the other restaurant that’s located in the casino, Personas. The food at personas is westcoast cuisine and they offer a range of items including appetizers, soups, entrees, desserts and alcoholic beverages.

One of their specials is their $5 breakfasts that come with pancakes, eggs and bacon. However, Mother deer isn’t a huge fan of any of those so she decided to choose items off their brunch menu instead.

Huevos Rancheros

This was definitely one of the fanciest plate of huevos rancheros I’ve ever seen. The two corn tortillas were lightly charred on the grill before being topped with enchilada sauce, 2 beautifully sunny-side-up eggs, fresh salsa and avocado.

The menu said that it came with “guacamole” but it was more like a small piece of avocado that was left to the side wanting to join the party. If you’re a huge fan of tacos, try these ones because it’ll just be like having breakfast tacos! Although you should come ready to get messy because it’s difficult to eat this dish elegantly. If anyone knows how, please let me know!

Spicy skillet

This satisfying plate of food consisted of hashbrowns, chorizo sausage, peppers, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms. Then as if that wasn’t already enough food to go around, it’s then topped with scrambled eggs and a sprinkling of cheese.

The potatoes were nicely crisp around the edges and soft on the inside as you would expect from a hashbrown. The chorizo sausage added hints of smokiness while the veggies added sweetness to the dish. The egg on top was placed nicely and scrambled to fluffy perfection. We could of had more cheese and would of liked to see salsa on the side to tie it all together instead of ketchup but it was a satisfying meal nevertheless.

Veggie skillet

Same crispy potatoes as the hashbrowns and topped with eggs that were just as fluffy. There were also mushrooms, bell peppers and tomatoes in it. I thought that the skillet was bit on the oily side which made it really heavy to eat 1/3 of the way through. I would say that this was definitely hangover food.

Seafood benedict

Two english muffins topped with baby shrimp, spinach, a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. As you can see from the plate…they did not skimp out on the hashbrowns. I would have liked to see more fruit to balance it out but one fruit skewer is better than one. I liked that there was a variety on the skewer too.

The poached eggs were over done so that you didn’t get the gooey egg yolk when you cut into the middle. They weren’t hard-boiled but they were clase to it which was disappointing. The hollandaise sauce was thick and goopy so it didn’t add much to the dish. Definitely wouldn’t come back for these.

We were all happy with our brunches and there wasn’t much to complain about for the most part. Plus we got our meals using buy one get one coupons so 4 large plates of food for $20? Can’t get better than that!
