Ki Sushi

After a nice relaxing walk along the Quay, we decided to grab some Japanese food at Ki Sushi. Ki sushi is right around the corner from New Westminister skytrain station. Ki Sushi is pretty large on the inside and we were surprised to see how busy it was when we walked in. Luckily, we were seated quickly at a table and were presented with a large menu selection to choose from.

Sashimi salad

As per usual, I decided to get a sashimi salad. I was actually pleasantly surprised with this one because it came with a huge variety of seafood including salmon, tuna, snapper, tako, and squid.

It also came with avocado, cucumbers and tomatoes! The carrot ginger dressing had the perfect amount of ginger and vinegar in it to complement the salad without overpowering it. The only thing I would of preferred is if the salad greens were actual leaves instead of iceberg salad mix!

Chicken katsu

Grayson decided to get the chicken katsu don because that’s his go-to dish whenever he sees it on the menu. It’s just something he can’t seem to resist. Especially when it comes with a gooey egg on top!

Unfortunately he said that the chicken was dry on the inside but he did enjoy the caramelized onions and the addition of green onions on top. Plus the portion was quite decent for it’s price as well. I know it doesn’t seem like it in the photo but it was actually quite large!

I liken Ki Sushi to the Sushi Garden of New Westminster. It’s got the Korean staff, the usual suspects on the menu, and contributes nothing new to the saturated casual Japanese restaurant scene.
