Green basil

We went to Green Basil hoping for a wonderful Thai dining experience but unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the WORST Thai food visits I have ever made and I definitely regret going.

Kaeng Jeed Won San

A soup with ground chicken, glass noodles with tofu and assorted vegetables

Kaeng Jeed Won San

Out of all the dishes we ordered, this was the most worth it’s value since the portion was actually quite decent. The soup was really clear and there wasn’t much flavor or depth to it.

We weren’t a fan of the ground chicken in it since it was quite tough and dry…there wasn’t very much of it either. The glass noodles were overcooked and got quite mushy towards the end as well…

Yellow curry

We felt cheated for ordering this. It was supposed to come with beef, carrots, potatoes, mango and coconut milk. Originally we were ordering the pineapple version which was only ($15.95) but our server told us that the mango one was good as well. So blindly upon we went with that one instead and it was a whole $2 more expensive and there were only 5 small pieces of mango in the curry. Definitely NOT worth it and on top of that, the beef was super tough and dry. NEVER AGAIN. The portion was TINY and the fact that this was the price WITHOUT rice made us all the more discontent with the value of this dish.

Khao Phat Ma Phraao Soht

A chicken fried rice with fresh young coconut ($15.95)

The fried rice was very moist and much too wet. It was also quite strong in tomato flavor for some reason as if they fried it in ketchup. There wasn’t much chicken or veggies in it and for a coconut fried rice, there was NO coconut flavor. The only coconut aspect of this dish was the fact that it was served in one!

  1. So unfortunate! I normally LOVE Thai food, but I think it’s easy to run into some really mediocre or worse places!

    1. I know I’m trying to try new things!

  2. Damn… If that happened to me and I wrote this post, I would rate it a -5/5. I’m surprised you gave them a 2.5 with that unfortunate meal!
