Gong Cha Renfrew is one of the newest Gong cha locations. It’s located behind Renfrew skytrain station just along Renfrew Street on the bottom floor of an office building. We almost missed it a few times because we didn’t realize it wasn’t a stand alone store-front.
When you walk into the cafe, you’re greeted with a large cafe space and the drink making area. There is a large glass surrounding the area so you can watch your drinks and snacks get created right before you!
We’ve only been to the Coquitlam location before but the Gong Cha Renfrew pretty much has the same menu. The only difference are their daily $3.99 specials.
Purple yam milk tea with pudding
This was a drink I was looking forward to trying because it sounded so delicious! Unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations. The purple yam had an earthiness that reminded us of taro. With that being said, the powder was very grainy and you could taste the powdery-ness of it in the drink. The pudding was soft but parts of it had a firmer texture which made it unenjoyable.
Something I’ve noticed about Gong Cha locations is that they aren’t very consistent with what they know about their marketing. There have been several instances where I’d go to a Gong Cha store asking about a promotion they had on social media to have them tell me they have no idea what I’m talking about. So be aware of that and make sure that you check with the Gong Cha location you are visiting before you make a visit if you’re looking to visit during a promotional period.
