Deer Garden Signatures is one of the many Hong Kong cafe chains in Vancouver. They offer a variety of rice, stir-fry, noodle, and baked dishes. One of the most popular items on the Deer Garden Signatures menu is the make your own noodle soup combo where you get to choose your soup base, noodles, add-ins and drink to go with it.

The options for the make-your-own noodle soups are usually quite similar among all the restaurants that offer this dish but we haven’t been to one in a while so we were pleasantly surprised that there were more soups to choose from.
I decided to go with the pepper-based fish soup and Grayson went with the one with century egg. Our expectations weren’t very high since it has never impressed us before but these soups were stronger in fish flavor than I remembered. Needless to say, we were both pleasantly surprised.
Noodle soups
Unlike most Hong Kong cafes, Deer Garden doesn’t offer a surcharge for most of their noodle options. I decided to go with the Korean sweet potato noodle and Grayson went with the ramen. The portion size of the noodles was quite large so I had to share some with Grayson. A few years ago these noodle soups were only $9 and now they are at $12 for the same thing.
So will we be back? Probably if either one of us are feeling like warming up to a hot bowl of noodles soup or whenever Grayson decides he has a craving for HK cafe food which seems to be once a week lately.
