Buns and Boba has been a cafe located in the Mount Pleasant area that I’ve been wanting to visit ever since it opened! I know it’s been well over a year since buns and boba opened but I was still so excited to finally be able to try it out!
Once you walk into the cafe, you notice the giant moss wall and menu board right away. I love how simple the design of the cafe is. They had small cafe tables as well as a communal table to share between guests. We’d come again just for the vibes. Anyway, while they have a giant menu board of items they offer, they also have a smaller menu at the counter with their bubble tea offerings. We thought it was a bit strange they didn’t just put it all together but maybe they just didn’t have enough space on the board.
As much as bubble tea is one of the features here, we kind of just came for the buns. I’ve made these kinds of buns before myself but I wanted to see how these fared. All the photos Grayson and I saw online showed that they had lots of bun flavours but by the time we got there, they only had 4 left in the display case and 3 flavours to choose from. This was quite disappointing being that this was a cafe that featured BUNS.
Once we ordered, we were asked if we wanted our bun heated up so while we waited we looked at all the items they had along the wall for sale. There were all sorts of kitchen items you could purchase from cutting boards, sugar savers, metal straws to dishes.
Nutella bun
The bun was soft with the perfect amount of nutella in it so that it wasn’t too sweet. Coming from someone who knows how to make buns like this, I don’t think it was worth the $4 they were selling it for but to each their own. With that being said, we wouldn’t mind coming again to try some of their other bun flavours assuming they have more to choose from the next time we are in!
