Bon Macaron Patisserie

Bon Macaron Patisserie is a bake shop located on Granville Island. They specialize in delicious unique flavours of macarons and make them on the daily. They have two locations. One location is a store front that is in the Public Market and their other is on the other side of the island and it’s the full on bakery. The bakery location is interesting in that they offer macaron making classes there if you’re interested. I thought that was really interesting and something that I may consider doing in the future!

macaron making

We decided to get a box of 6 macarons to try out! They had several in their display case to choose from. They offered both classic flavours and more unique ones! I decided to choose some of their more unique flavours because I had never seen them anywhere else before.

Macarons

Creme brulee – This had caramel and vanilla notes to it and reminded me of pudding. The flavours blended beautifully and of course the macaron shell was nice and crispy with a chewy middle!

Salted caramel – This one had a similar flavour profile to the creme brulee but with a hint of salt. I liked how the salt helped balance out the sweetness from the caramel. I wasn’t sure about getting this one since I’m not really a salted caramel fan but I’d get this one again!

White chocolate wasabi – One of the more unique flavours here! I wasn’t sure about getting it but was glad I did in the end because it was amazing! The white chocolate added creaminess and sweetness which was then balanced out by the light spice of the wasabi. Everything was subtle in flavours which made it all the more interesting to eat.

Strawberry balsamic – This was the one that I felt wasn’t very prominent in flavour. I couldn’t really detect any strawberry or balsamic notes in the macaron which was disappointing.

Margarita – A lime based macaron with the perfect amount of tang. If you’re a fan of citrus notes, this is the macaron for you.

Sesame – One of my favourites of the bunch. This had so many clear nutty notes from the black sesame and I would order it again in a heart beat! Yum.
