Bambu Vietnamese Dessert isn’t a spot we frequent very often but every time we revisit, we love it all over again. Bambu is a dessert shop that offers Vietnamese inspired drinks, desserts and snacks. The cafe isn’t very large on the inside and is currently not offering dine-in service.
Every time we visit it seems as though Bambu Vietnamese Dessert has come out with a new item. This time it was their mochi cookies and flans! Their flans come in a cute jar and you are able to add toppings to it for free!
Pandan waffle (gluten-free)
We’ve been eyeing the pandan waffle every time we visit and this time we decided to actually order it. The waffle was gluten-free because it was made out of glutinous rice flour to give it a mochi-like texture. The waffle was super chewy and crispy along the edges. I wish the waffle had more pandan flavour and that it was placed in a better container because the bag created steam which softened the waffle.
Coconut Water Che
I have always wanted to try the Che desserts from Bambu and this was my first experience with it. There were lots of pre-made combos but I decided to make my own instead. You have a choice of using coconut water or coconut cream as a base. Since I didn’t want mine to be too rich, I went with coconut water. I also added red tapioca, mung beans, grass jelly, pandan jelly and taro paste.
The dessert drink could be consumed through a thick bubble tea straw so I didn’t need a spoon. I liked the coconut water in it because it added a refreshing element to the dessert. When I mixed all the toppings together, the drink became a sweet taro drink with lots of toppings inside. I didn’t mind in the beginning but it got much too sweet towards the end. While I did enjoy trying out something new, I’m not sure I would get it again because of it’s sweetness level.
Chrysanthemum tea
Grayson wanted something simple so he went with the Chrysanthemum tea. He ordered it unsweetened but said it ended up being quite sweet anyway. At Bambu, you are able to choose two toppings to add for free to your drink and add on more for $0.75 if you would like. Usually he gets the house-made tapioca but he wanted something more traditional on this visit.
