Mother deer wanted to go out for Korean food one fine evening so we decided to go to Won Jo. I’ve been here once before in the past and I remembered enjoying my visit so I thought that it would be alright for us to come here again.
This time we tried a variety of new dishes and for the first time we tried Korean hot pot casserole!
We didn’t think that there was anything too special about the bibimbap and was pretty standard as far as stone pot rice goes in terms of flavor.
However, we all agreed that there was a pretty substantial amount of veggies on top because usually you really only get shallow piles of each type of veggie but they were pretty dense piles with this one!
Chicken noodle hot pot
The last time I was, Oracle and Huntress tried the seafood version of this and it looked pretty good so I figured that it would be a good thing to order on our visit. We ordered the chicken version though because we were already going to have seafood later on.
Mother deer said that the noodles were well made and that they were very smooth? I think that this dish is one of their more value friendly items on their menu because this was definitely more than enough to fill up one person!
Octopus and vegetable casserole
We decided to get this giant hot pot style casserole because we had never tried korean casserole before. It was filled with veggies and had a good amount of fresh octopus in there as well!
It came with two bowls of rice but I don’t think that it was necessarily worth the price because there was just heaps of veggies in it and if I were to be sharing this with one other person, I would be probably full off rice rather than the contents of the pot itself.
Overall, our visit to Won Jo was pretty standard. I wouldn’t say that it’s the best Korean food I had but if I wanted to go somewhere for authentic homemade noodles, this would be the place I would end up going to. I should probably mention though that you can only order one “hot pot” style item at a time because you only have one stove top burner at your table.
We found it strange that they just dropped off the other one right next to it and they didn’t give us any tools to exchange the two pots and being that the pot handles were so hot, we were unable to put our noodle pot on the stove even after we were done with our casserole. Service wasn’t exactly prompt either…
Would I come back? yes
