It’s been a while since we’ve gone for ramen let alone Japanese Tapas! Yuu Japanese Tapas is located in Continental plaza. Yuu offers a variety of Japanese tapas, ramen, rice, and specialty drink items. Their menu is quite extensive and it was so much easier to read at the store front because you can easily see all the items at once. We’ve been here a couple of times before in the past to have their rice and tsukemen but this time, we were here for their ramen!
I’m not usually a croquette fan but their curry croquette got me to reconsider. The outside of the croquette was soooo crispy and golden brown without being oily. The inside of the croquette was stuffed with curry flavoured mashed potatoes and veggies to add warmth and a contrast of textures. Loved it!
The takoyaki here was pretty standard. Each one had a piece of octopus on the inside and the batter was gooey. The exterior had a crispy shell to hold everything together.
The ramen here is priced $15-18 which is on the higher end but the portions justify it! The miso ramen came with 3 slices of fatty pork chashu, bamboo shoots, thin ramen noodles, half an egg and corn nibblets. This was definitely worth the price! The ramen noodles had a bite to it and the broth was light which I appreciated since the chashu was on the fatty side. The chashu was tender and the gooey egg was EVERYTHING!
Similar to the miso ramen above but the broth was richer and had more depth of flavour to it.
Last but not least was the Boba Anmitsu dessert. It was a scoop of matcha ice cream topped with canned peaches, boba pearls and red bean. The dessert was so simple but it was the perfect way to end the meal.
