Grayson and I decided to go to Sushi Bella a couple of weekends ago because we’ve been meaning to go for a while now but something has always gotten in way…like the fact that we end up getting distracted by the many other restaurants along the way there.

Sushi bella interior

The interior of Sushi Bella had a modern comfortable vibe to it with a clean, woodsy and white theme.

And as with most Japanese restaurant, they had an open sushi bar where you could watch the chefs create deliciousness.

Tropical teriyaki bowl

Grayson decided to get the tropical teriyaki bowl ($15) which was stirfried chicken, prawns, crushed peanuts, pineapple, sauteed eggplant, bell peppers, broccoli, peas, and asparagus.

He was extremely satisfied with the portion size and the flavor of his meal. Unlike most teriyaki he has had in his life, the sauce wasn’t too sweet or overwhelming. He said that there was just the right amount to coat all the well prepared proteins and veggies. The natural sweetness from the pineapples added a nice touch as well.

Asian dream salad

I decided to get the Asian dream salad ($15) which came with tuna tataki, real crab, baby shrimp edamame, mandarin, shredded root veggies, avocado, mixed greens and soy ginger dressing.

So in other words, this salad had everything I liked in a bowl….UNFORTUNATELY I was underwhelmed and quite disappointed frankly with what I ended up being placed in front of me.

Don’t get me wrong, the presentation was amazing and the salad itself was alright, nothing too amazing but it wasn’t a terrible tasting salad either…what made the experience terrible was the customer service that occurred.

In my salad, I found two yellow, thoroughly bug bitten salad leaves. I brought this to our server’s attention because I didn’t think something like that should be showing up on my plate. Especially if it was a $15 salad!

When I told the server about this, she went to the kitchen to ask the chefs, and about two minutes later, she came back with my same plate WITH THE LEAVES ON IT STILL and told me that their leaves were “organic, fresh from the market and there shouldn’t be anymore on my plate.” I was speechless!

I wasn’t asking for my dish to be re-made (although that would be the ideal here customer service wise), but the least they could do was at least take the leaves off!

What a disappointment!
