Lil’ bun was about to go off to camp so we decided that we would eat dinner out since we wouldn’t be seeing her for a while. Brother deer suggested that we go to Sushi ville because he’s been here on numerous occasions and said that it was pretty good.
The interior of sushi ville was really spacious with lots of seating and they even offer patio seating so you can enjoy your sushi outside.
The menu at sushi ville is quite extensive and they offer lots of special rolls! One of the things that sets them apart from other Japanese restaurants is that you can have the option of making your roll plus sized by ordering it giant! It’s only $2 more and you also get to have 2 more pieces of sushi with it. Such a deal!
3 pc salmon, 3 pc tuna, 2 pc cuttle fish, 2 pc saba, 2 pc hokkagai, 2 pc hamachi
We were really impressed with the presentation of our sashimi. I mean look at it it’s so pretty and the dry ice just takes it over the top. The sashimi was fresh and the pieces were quite generous as well.
The only thing we weren’t too satisfied with was the temperature of the sashimi because they were almost luke warm! You would think that the sashimi would be at least some what cold being that it was presented to us on a huge bed of ice but nope!
Mother deer said this was one of the better grilled squid dishes she’s tried at Japanese restaurants and that’s saying something because she has high standards when it comes to her squid. Brother deer didn’t go easy on the squid either and the two of them pretty much devoured it all before any of us could really get a few more pieces of our own.
A roll with imitation crab, avocado, cream cheese topped with avocado and smoked salmon. This is one of lil’ bun’s favorite rolls and I don’t blame her I mean cream cheese and smoked salmon? What’s not to love? The rolls were tightly rolled and didn’t come apart when they were picked up with chopsticks (you know how annoying it gets when your sushi falls apart on you!). I thought there was a little too much sauce on it to really taste the roll itself.
The rocky mountain roll is a california roll (cucumber, imitation crab, avocado) topped with deep fried yam ball and tobiko.
We found the deep fried yam ball on top to be really interesting because it was like having a deep fried ball of mashed yam!
But we thought it was a little weird that it was put on top of the sushi roll because you couldn’t really eat the two together at the same time or anything since it ended up being so tall. So we ended up eating the two things separately. I think that they should serve the yam balls separately as an appetizer or something instead.
A roll with cream cheese, avocado, imitation crab, cucumber, topped with fried sweet potato. We were excited to try this roll but were disappointed that the roll ended up being basically like a california roll because there was barely any cream cheese in sight. The sweet potato on top was really crispy and reminded us of those hickory sticks chips.
What DIDN’T fail to disappoint was the SIZE of the roll itself. I mean look how much bigger the GIANT roll is compared to the regular one! And for only $2 more AND you get 2 more pieces of sushi? YES PLEASE!
I think that someone could easily just have a giant roll for their meal and leave with a full belly. It’d be like having a don but in roll form!
