Grayson and I were up for Korean food this past weekend so we decided to try MDG after a day at the beach! MDG is located on Denman Street in Downtown Vancouver.

Mul Mandu

These dumplings were awesome! They had loads of filling on the inside so you didn’t feel like you were just eating “dumpling skin.” The pork on the inside was moist, well seasoned, and juicy. Everything went perfectly with the soy based dipping sauce

Banchan

Four out of the banchan were dishes we’re quite familiar with but one of the ones served here were new to us. The jelly was quite foreign really be cause we had no idea what it was! It was clear and gelatinous but wasn’t so soft that it was the consistency of jelly. It didn’t have much taste either and we didn’t really care for it.

Sul lung tang

Grayson was skeptical because brisket can sometimes be tough. Unfortunately he was let down once again because there were only three measly pieces of brisket in his soup but the depth of flavor in the broth gave it a few more points in his book.

Bibim Naeng Myun

It’s been a while since I’ve had this and as a matter of fact, my craving for cold noodles was why we ended up going for Korean in the first place so it only made sense for me to order it!

My favorite part about this dish has definitely got to be the fact that you get to mix it all up! I know you can do this with bibimbap but usually the server would do it for you and we rarely order that dish so being able to do it myself was quite the treat!

The buckwheat noodles were well prepared and held up to being mixed in the bowl without turning into mush. The only thing I have to say about the noodles is that half way through it got hard to mix because they wouldn’t separate but this is common for this dish. If anyone knows how to resolve said foodie problem, please let me know!

The only other downside to cold noodle dishes is the lack of contents it has on the inside. I wish there was more than merely half an egg and a few vegetables on top but that is the way the dish is to be prepared so I shouldn’t be complaining. I didn’t find the spicy sauce to be too spicy if anything it was on the sweeter side.
