Koyuki Sapporo Ramen

Lately the two of us have been enjoying cold ramen ever since we had it at Ramen Gaoh. So naturally we hunted around for a spot that served cold ramen along Robson street on our way down to English Bay. Koyuki Sapporo Ramen offers a variety of ramen but they focus on Sapporo style which tends to be richer in flavor.

I liked that the Koyuki Sapporo Ramen menu offered both pork and chicken ramen options so you could choose which protein you prefer. They also offer rice bowls and a variety of appetizers.

Maze ramen

The maze ramen is part of their summer special. The thick cold ramen was topped with spicy ground pork, onion, green onion, nori seaweed, fried garlic, and marinated egg. We weren’t too impressed with the portion we were given since it was smaller than most we’ve had before but it was pretty tasty. The ground pork added some heat but I thought that it was a bit on the salty side.

Miso ramen

The miso ramen was served with two slices of chashu, green onions and marinated egg. The broth was very rich and creamy so it filled us up easily even though the noodles were thin. Grayson said that despite the fact that the chashu looked quite fatty, it was a nice balance between lean pieces and fattier ones.

Mentaiko don

We decided to make the miso ramen a combo by adding a mini mentaiko don to it. We were disappointed with this because there was no flavor to it and was pretty much just a skimp scoop of mentaiko on top of the rice. There was not enough mentaiko to go around so it was very bland. In the end, we decided to add some of the miso broth to it to give it some more flavor.

Quick bites

  1. Not very impressed with their ramens
  2. Nice ambiance including patio seating
  3. Price is moderate at $12-$15 a bowl
