So after years of being without, the Heights on Hastings has finally gained a Taiwanese restaurant! So of course we had to go give it a try.

Jo Ju hot pot menu

From what I could see, the menu was pretty much a replica of the one you would find at Han ju tofu hotpot at Crystal mall.

The interior or Jo Ju hot pot wasn’t anything special. Pretty basic with a good amount of seating.

Seafood hotpot

Not much flavor in the soup. It was really bland and just tasted like salted water. Although it looks like there was a lot of things in the pot, there was only 1 shrimp, 2 mussels, 2 tiny fish balls, a few sad pieces of napa and a few strands of mung bean thread on the inside. But I guess you get what you pay for.

BBQ pork rice

We thought that the preparation of the pork was a little odd because it was sauteed pork marinated in BBQ sauce instead of actual BBQ pork. The pork slices were disappointing as they were tough and dry.

Summary

1: Never again | 2: Bad | 3: Average | 4: Good | 5: Amazing

Food: 3
Service: 2.5
Value: 3
Ambiance: 2.5

Would I come back? No
