Delish Gluten-free Bakery is a pastry shop that has a location along Hastings in Vancouver and another in Port Moody. They offers all things gluten-free pastry including brownies, cookies, pies, cupcakes, muffins, breads, bars, and so much more! For this visit, I had to go to Delish gluten-free bakery Port Moody location to pick up a chocolate cake.
Once I stepped in the door, I could already smell all the baked goods coming from the kitchen in the back. The pastry case out front was filled full of the desserts and treats! Everything and anything I could imagine with more on the side! They even do larger orders if you call ahead. All their cakes are made gluten-free and dairy-free with 3 flavours to choose from. Vanilla, Red velvet or Chocolate.
Chocolate Cake
I’ve never had a gluten-free and dairy-free cake before but it was pretty good. The cake was $35 for a 6″ cake which is pricy in my opinion especially since cakes from “high end” French pastry shops sell for similar or cheaper.
There was a good amount of chocolate flavour and the sweetness was reasonable. The vanilla frosting on the outside was a crisp white and the layers on the inside were quite even. I wasn’t a fan of the “plaque” on top with the edible ink because I personally prefer chocolate plaque or something more “printed” than hand written. Overall, we were satisfied with the cake and all parties happily had their slice and wouldn’t even know it was gluten-free!
