Chun Yang Tea Richmond

Chun Yang Tea Richmond is located along Alderbridge and has an open parking lot for patrons. The interior of Chun Yang Tea Richmond has a few cafe tables on the inside for customers to sit at if they would like. On sunnier days they open the “garage style” door to let in the sunshine to the cafe.

I love the order counter at Chun Yang tea because it reminds me of an old-school movie ticket counter. My favourite part about the Chun Yang Tea menu is that they offer soy milk as an alternative! They also recently added a mural to their wall which added a pop of colour to the dimly lit cafe.

Honey Osthamus tea

Grayson decided to try one of their specialty drinks. The tea had a strong honey flavour that I thought muted some of the osthamus. Grayson enjoyed it though and said it was light and refreshing for a sunny day. He ordered it with aiyu jelly and thought it paired together perfectly.

Black Soy Milk Tea

I’ve tried the oolong milk tea from Chun yang Tea before and it was a delight so I decided to try the Black Soy Milk Tea. What I love about Chun Yang Tea Richmond is that they offer the option to choose soy milk at no extra charge! I’ve never had soy milk in bubble tea before so I was intrigued to try it out. I usually get fresh milk tea but I miss the creaminess that drinks with powdered milk added to bubble tea. The soy milk version adds a different level of creaminess to the drink which offers a blend between the two. The black tea was still noticeable in the background so it made this tea super enjoyable!

Oolong milk tea with pearl

I’ve never had a oolong milk tea that tasted this amazing before! It had this note of smokiness that left me coming back for more and the milk mellowed it out perfectly. The pearls were chewy and lightly sweetened the milk tea. I’m not usually a fan of oolong tea because it tends to be too robust in flavor for me but I’d definitely come back for this one!

Trio fresh milk tea

Although the flavour of the milk tea was not as smoky as the oolong, I still enjoyed this milk tea! I loved how flavour of the tea came through the creaminess of the milk which is so hard to come by! Usually when I order a milk tea made with fresh milk, the tea flavour is washed out but it wasn’t the case here. The addition of the “trio” of toppings including grass jelly, ai-yu jelly, pudding and pearls made the drink such a fun experience because of all the different textures! It actually reminded me of the Happy Family milk tea from Sharetea because we had the option of ordering it with fresh milk! I’ll definitely be keeping this one in mind for our next visit.
