Tentatsu Burnaby location

Whenever we’re too lazy to cook and need something quick to eat, we call up Tentatsu Burnaby because not only are the portions generous but it’s close enough to walk over to pick it up. Tentatsu Burnaby does offer delivery but if you order BY PHONE you get 10% off! This doesn’t work if you order on their online platform and then pick it up though so don’t make the same mistake we made last time!

Beef yakisoba

Anyone else get annoyed when they order hot food but it’s cold by the time they pick it up from the restaurant? Luckily, our beef yakisoba was nice and hot when we got it and as you can see there was plenty of filling to go around. There were bean sprouts, slices of cabbage, beef, and noodles.

Eye opener sushi comb

Next we got the eye opener sushi combo. We usually go with the 3 types of maki + a roll because it seems to be the most filling out of all the options although sometimes we’ll get the sashimi choice if we don’t feel as hungry that day. The dynamite roll that came with this had two pieces of tempura shrimp on the inside of each roll. There was also a good hunk of aco and cucumber in there.

Avocado roll

We decided to get another combo but got it with avocado roll instead of the dynamite roll. I like the avocado rolls here because they are pretty generous with the filling and they always have ripe and creamy pieces on the inside because raw avos are gross.

House roll

We were going to get another combo but decided to get other rolls instead so we had more options. The first one we got was the house roll which was disappointing because usually there’s fish in it but it seemed like they just cut a bigger piece of tamago (egg) to take up the space that should have been fish. The last time we were here they still put fish in it so it was pretty disappointing it wasn’t what we expected.

Chopped scallop roll

The chopped scallop rolls here tend to be on the skimpy side portion wise and I would say this is one of the few items here that they do that with. The scallop to rice ratio is 1:2 and with a shellfish as light as scallop, it made it difficult to differentiate it from all the rice in it.

If you’re looking for a high end sushi bar, this isn’t the place to be but if you’re looking for something cheap, easy and quick, do come by for a filling meal.
