Taipei 101 Hyatt hotel buffet

Hello my travel foodies! Welcome to another installment of Taiwan eats! This time I’m going to be telling you all about one of the best buffets in town, the one at the Taipei 101 Hyatt hotel.

Now I’ve been to my share of buffets but this was one like no other. Taipei 101 Hyatt hotel had almost everything you could possibly think of there. The pricing varies from $60 – $70 CAD per adult depending on whether you go on a weekday or weekend.

What I ate

I decided to start off light with a salad and one of the juices from their fresh juice bar. Watermelon juice for me because it’s only the best juice out there.

Next I decided to try some of their appetizers and pre-made salads. There was so much selection that it took me forever to get through everything!

Condiments

A station of a variety of hot sauces.

Too many kimchi options to count!

Bread

Across from there was a huge selection of housemade breads. As amazing as these looked, refrain from filling up on these because there’s so much more to choose from!

Italian food

They also had a wide variety of Italian cured meats for you to choose from to put on top of your bread or to wrap around the conveniently placed honey dew melon.

Salads

I wasn’t a huge fan of their prepared salads but there are a lot to choose from.

But the salad rolls were so good!

Seafood

The next time I went up I went for the seafood. They had conch, shrimp, mussels, crabs, and so much more.

Japanese food

Then came my favorite, the Japanese area. They had everything from mains to sushi to choose from. Here they have soba, rice porridge and a variety of pickles for you to eat with it.

In the middle there is a sashimi table where you have a huge selection of fish to choose from. All you need to do is tell the chef to slice it for you and you’re ready to go.

Of course if nigiri is more your thing, they have those prepared for you too. If the one you want isn’t already on the table, you can ask them to make it for you on the spot.

They also had rolls and aburi sushi. I wasn’t a huge fan of the rolls so I stayed away from them and went for the sashimi instead.

I don’t know how my plate could of possibly fit in any more food so unfortunately I had to finish everything before coming back to get the rest of what I wanted.

So on the other side of the Japanese station was seafood miso soup and oden (braised dish).

Chirashi gohan (rice with sashimi, egg and veggies)

Squid ink udon (not very good since the noodles were quite hard)

Chinese and Indian food

On the other side of the restaurant was all the Chinese and Indian food necessary to satisfy all your cravings.

Various chutneys with crackers and naan

Lentils, curries, lamb koftas, and tandoori.

BBQ duck and pork

Chinese fried rice, dumplings, noodles, etc.

Westcoast food

Then at the very end was the westcoast cuisines.

Roast beef and more meat!

Pastas and casseroles.

Dessert

Last but not least, came the desserts! This area was on an entire separate platform!

Assorted pastries and mousses.

So many tarts and cakes to choose from!

Of course a fondue in the form of a chocolate fountain is necessary

Then last but not least, lots of hagen daaz to choose from.

By this time I was way too full to have any thing too heavy so I went with mostly fruit. But fruit in Taiwan is quite pricy so I was more than happy to enjoy lots of this!

If you’re willing to spend the money on a buffet, this is one to consider! It has food from cuisines all over the world and has something for everyone! I was surprised as to how many options they had since the only other buffet I’ve been to recently is the one in River rock. Buffets in Vancouver has nothing on this one!
