I know I’m back in Vancouver now but there’s still so much that I want to share with you all about my trip to Asia so I guess what I’m saying is that you’ll be expecting a few more of these posts in the coming weeks. Hong Kong offers a variety of international dishes. Read to see what I had on my trip!

Ngong Ping 360

My granny wanted to go out of the city and go on a trip again so we decided to go to Ngong Ping 360 which is a gondola tram that you can take up to the top of a mountain to see this giant statue that lives at the top of a million steps of stairs!

Vegetarian temple

At the bottom you can head on over to the temple and enjoy a yummy vegetarian buddhist feast. I’ve never had one of these before so it was a neat experience.

If you’ve been following me for a while you’d know that I have a love of bread so every time I pass by a bakery, it is without a doubt I will stumble in to have a browse around. I then of course want to buy everything in sight…so most of the times I ended up having bread throughout the day instead of having main meals 😛

Ishiyaki Cafe

Being away from Vancouver so long I was bound to miss Japanese food. The seafood in Hong Kong in terms of salmon or tuna sashimi is no where near as fresh as it is around here (I mean the salmon in BC is glorious!) so I went with a more traditional Japanese style meal instead with a bowl of furikake rice, tomato veggie stew and shoyu stewed veggies with tofu.

My cousin brought me to this really cute cafe down in Mong Kong at Langham place called Ishiyaki cafe. The interior was modern with lots of white and woodsy themes. Apparently a graphic designer made the layout of it.

And I got a tofu salad because I already had lunch earlier in the day. I’m not sure how I feel about the salad dressings here….in Hong Kong the “ceaser dressing” is actually a sesame based dressing instead of what we’re used to here. How confusing right?

Shangri-La

Another place that I experienced with my cousin was this Indian restaurant called Shangri-La. My cousin actually wrote a review of this restaurant for me when I first started this blog so it was awesome to be able to go there and try it for myself. I also have never had Indian food before so this was quite the adventure.

To start we received crispy flat bread with a yogurt sauce and pickled onions.  I wasn’t a fan of the dipping sauces so I just had the crispy flatbread as is.

We then got the house soup. I’m not sure what kind of soup it was but it was really creamy, had a few pieces of chicken and resembled a chowder of sorts.

Beef curry

Lamb chops: I’m not a fan of lamb but it actually wasn’t so bad. It didn’t taste game-y and was really tender

Naan: so soft!

Sauteed veggies

Chicken curry: same curry as the beef just different protein

Grilled fish: I loved this fish it was really aggressively seasoned and although it looked blackened, the inside was flakey and moist

Cafe lattes

My cousin and her friend also went to this cafe before back when I visited over the winter. We didn’t end up going again this time even though they featured a Minion latte in honour of the release of Minions but I thought I’d share my previous experience with you all.

My cousin and her friend tried the chocolate fondant cake which is the same as a lava cake. The inside was ooey gooey but they thought it was too sweet when it was combined with the vanilla ice cream on the side.

Now here’s the moment we were all waiting for…the lattes!

We lined up 1.5 hours for these cups of coffee! My cousin got the cat latte

Her friend got the Sulley latte which ended up being bubble gum flavor…

And of course, I got the matcha latte featuring the 3 eyed alien from Toy story!
