Pink Lotus Cafe

Pho is my go-to when it comes to Vancouver’s infamous cold and rainy days. It’s warm, cozy and flavorful. We decided to try out Pink Lotus Cafe in Surrey. Pink Lotus Cafe is located in a plaza between Central and South Surrey. The interior wasn’t too small but could have done with a bit of an upgrade as some of the chairs and tables were a bit raggedy.

We were both surprised with the menu offerings because not only did they have your typical pho options but they had specialty ones too! While we were tempted to try out the tomato crab vermicelli noodles and the duck leg ones, we opted to go for something more traditional because that’s what we were feeling that particular day. Plus, we recently went to Cazba so I already tried my new thing of the month.

They also had separate pricing under each menu item for if you want to add more toppings to your meal or if you want to make it a combo by adding a spring roll or drink to it.

Seafood noodle soup

I decided to get the seafood noodle soup. At first glance I thought 1) holy smokes there’s a lot of soup in this bowl and 2) where’s all the seafood?

Luckily, upon further investigation, I uncovered a lot more crab sticks, squid rings, shrimp and veggies!

The noodles were thinner and cooked longer than other pho places but I didn’t mind because there was so much of it! Unfortunately the soup didn’t have much flavor so I ended up having to season it with the basil and siracha. With that being said, it was a pretty good portion for $12.

House special pho with a spring roll

Grayson decided to get the House special pho with a spring roll. He said the spring roll was nice and crispy but it was also rolled pretty thin so he didn’t taste as much of the filling as he would have liked.

On the other hand, he loved his bowl of pho because there were so many toppings in it! He didn’t like tripe so he asked if they could sub more of the other meats instead and they said yes! Hurray for being flexible for the customer! Usually Grayson complains about how little meat there is in his pho but there were no complaints here because there was so much of it in the bowl! Needless to say, he enjoyed his meal.

Quick bites

  1. Unique noodle soup options
  2. Only one size to choose from but the portion is pretty large
  3. Combos let you have an appetizer with your meal at a lower cost!
